A major Australian financial institution weighed down by over 100 legacy applications has made the move towards outsourcing to improve the bottom line and ensure efficiency. They have embarked on the mission to replace these legacy applications by 2014. So what is driving this major move towards outsourcing?

“There are many advantages of outsourcing to an external IT supplier,” commented Kareem Tawansi, CEO of software development provider, Solentive Software.

“Outsourcing will allow organisations to utilise the talents of experts in their field of expertise as well as their broader experience from providing solutions to other clients.

“Of greater significance, organisations will be able to harness the rewards from the vendor’s investment in research and development, meaning more advanced solutions for the organisation engaging with the vendor,” continued Kareem.

“Furthermore, vendors are more agile in their area of expertise. Organisations would only need to provide vendor or project managers to their outsourced partner, allowing the organisation to focus on their core business, whatever that may be,” concluded Kareem.
